Fernando Belzenegui and his partner complement the already complex and supra-regional art of winemaking and oenologists with a new project. The roots of Ana’s family lie in Jumilla, far away from the home of the brothers Fernando and Maria Belzenegui, which can be found in the Bodegas Azul y Garanza in Navarre.
Altamente Vinos grows wines from a few plots in the Jumilla region. Pure Monastrell plantations at 700-800m above sea level are the basis of their elegant wines.
The two follow the motto that really good wines can only be produced from healthy and as untouched ripened grapes as possible. They
rarely visit the vineyards and spray only the absolutely necessary amount of copper sulphate solution. The dry and warm climate with a steady light breeze acts as a natural guardian angel.
In wine cellar technology, too, minimalist thinking and trading prevail. The right harvest time is important. At the beginning of fermentation, the must is accompanied by an uncompromising temperature control, which keeps the temperature low. Some oxygen works wonders when
extracting aromatic fruit and delicate tannins.
Altamente stands for height, the vineyards are the highest in the region. The wines show great finesse and very good price-quality ratio.
