The vineyards of Chiusa Grande are located slightly North of Pescara and are spread over 5 different plots with different soils, different microclimate and altitude above the sea level of the Adriatic Sea. About 11 hectares are grouped directly around the modernly designed wine cellar. About 200 m above sea level, the soils here are loamy to clay, heavy and rich in nutrients. Ideal conditions for Chardonnay, Malvasia and Cabernet – of course the native Montepulciano grape is not to be missed here at Nocciano. The highest altitudes are located at just over 350 m above sea level and produce intensely tasty grapes with fresh acidity. In total, the Franco d’Eusenio team manages almost 70 hectares.
Franco’s claim can be described as holistic, always in search of the all-encompassing balance. Since he assumes that there is no objectively perceptible sensory experience, but that it is always a conglomerate of various influences, he has defined his own concept. On Chiusa Grande, for example, you try to celebrate wine tastings as a multisensory experience. Franco assumes that every tasting experience is unique. A chance encounter of environmental influences, cosmos, music, colours and the environment in which the tasting takes place. On Chiusa Grande, you can taste the wines in colourfully designed rooms, furnished with fine furniture and in front of wide window fronts, which open up the wide view of the vineyards and show on the horizon the highest peaks of Abruzzo.
