This charmer of a PetNat is made from the local grape variety Feteasca Regala. Feteasca Regala literally means The Royal Virgin, and it is one of Romania’s prides, which the Romanians expect will help put the country on the wine world map again.
Fine perlage, light, typical yeast cloudiness. Rich mouthfeel with a lot of pressure on the palate. Rhubarb and raspberry aromas. Delicate, refreshing bitter note. That’s how PetNat is fun!
What is a PetNat?
The name is derived from the French petillant naturel, sparkling natural.
During production, the second fermentation is dispensed with, which is produced in classic sparkling wine or champagne by adding sugar and yeast to the still wine. In the case of Pet Nat, the carbonic acid of the first fermentation is skillfully used to create the pressure and fine perlage. This means that the wine that is still fermenting is filled into the champagne bottle at the right time before the end of the fermentation period, unfiltered, crown caps on it, done.
Serving suggestions: Serve chilled as an aperitif or with lighter dishes with e.g. fish and shellfish or lighter cheeses
